A receptionist for people whose hands are full

Appela was born from a very concrete problem: in a salon or a restaurant, the phone always rings at the worst moment.

Where Appela comes from

In a salon, your hands are in gloves. In a restaurant, you are in the middle of service. The phone rings, nobody can pick up, and the person on the line books somewhere else. It shows up nowhere: no cancellation, no identifiable empty table, no trace. It is an invisible loss, and so it never gets fixed.

The existing options are either an answering machine — which almost nobody listens to and almost nobody leaves a message on — or a dedicated person, out of reach for a neighbourhood business. Appela was built for that gap: someone who always picks up, for the price of a modest fixed cost.

What the product does

  • It picks up when you can’t: during service, after closing, on a day off.
  • It gives information: opening hours, address, services, prices — what you have set up, nothing else.
  • It takes appointments and bookings, checks real availability and writes them into your calendar.
  • It knows your closing days and refuses to book on them.
  • It transfers the call to you when a request should not be handled alone.
  • It sends reminders before the visit, to reduce no-shows.

What it does not do

It does not pretend to be human: it introduces itself as your assistant. It does not make up answers: what it doesn’t know, it passes on to you or writes down. It does not replace your judgement — appointments still need checking, like those a new hire would take. And it is not an emergency service.

How we work

Swiss, and proud of it. The numbers we assign are Swiss, opening hours are calculated on Swiss time, and the service is designed for the way people book here. We do not claim to cover other countries until that is true.

Seven languages, because your customers speak them. The agent answers in French, German, Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Albanian. In Geneva as in Zurich, a business receives calls in several languages in the same day.

No option to unlock. Both plans contain the same product; only the call volume changes. We do not keep an essential feature behind a higher tier.

No audio recording. Calls are not recorded: the written transcript and the summary are enough. Simpler for you, and more respectful of your customers.

Who publishes Appela

Soclic Group Sàrl is a Swiss limited liability company based in Geneva, registered in the commercial register under number CHE-430.016.769. Address: Rue de la Navigation 1, 1201 Genève.

We are a young company, and we say so rather than hide it behind numbers. That means something useful for you: when you write to us, you reach someone who knows the product and can fix it.

A question, a comment, a feature you are missing: contact@appela.ai or the contact page.

The easiest way to get an idea is still to hear the agent: request a demo call from the home page, and it calls you within seconds.
